When do I find myself in that position on the scale?

What are the circumstances? What are the direct and indirect influencers?

The Bible provides several characteristics of a proud person, including:

  1. Arrogance and haughtiness (Proverbs 21:4)
  2. A scornful and mocking attitude (Proverbs 21:24)
  3. Boasting and self-glorification (Proverbs 27:1)
  4. Disregard for others’ advice or counsel (Proverbs 13:1)
  5. Refusal to acknowledge or learn from mistakes (Proverbs 5:2-3)
  6. A sense of self-sufficiency and independence from God (Psalm 10:4)
  7. A focus on self-exaltation rather than humility (Matthew 23:12)
  8. A tendency to judge or look down on others (Matthew 7:1-2)
  9. A lack of mercy or compassion for others (Luke 18:9-14)

Some biblical examples of proud individuals include:

  1. Pharaoh, who refused to humble himself before God (Exodus 5:2)
  2. King Nebuchadnezzar, who was punished for his pride (Daniel 4:28-33)
  3. King Herod, who was struck down for his arrogance (Acts 12:20-23)

It’s important to note that pride can be subtle and may not always manifest in obvious ways. However, by recognizing these characteristics and examples, we can become more aware of pride in our own lives and seek to cultivate humility instead.
