In this report we will compare the teaching in the
NASV ( 1971 edition ) to the King James Bible (KJ).
KJV VS. NASV
Gen. 1:5,8
KJ: 5 “… And the evening and the morning were
THE FIRST DAY.” 8 “… And the evening and
the morning were THE SECOND DAY.”
NASV: 5 “And there was evening and there was
morning, ONE DAY. 8 “And there was evening
and there was morning, A SECOND DAY.
COMMENT: God created everything during 6 LITERAL and
SEQUENTIAL, days. For example: On day 3 God
made the GRASS and the TREES. Then, on day
4 God made the SUN. Could the grass and trees
have gone ‘1 million years’ without sunlight
between day 3 and day 4? Of course not! So,
just like the KJ says: there were NO “GAPS”
between the 6 literal, and SEQUENTIAL, days
of creation. The NASV robs God of his glory
in CREATION.
Gen. 1:21 KJ: “And God created great WHALES, …”
NASV: “And God created the great sea monsters, …”
COMMENT: God creates sea monsters?
Gen. 2:7 KJ: “… and man became a living SOUL.”
NASV: “… and man became a living being.”
Comment: A MAJOR difference between man and beast is
that man is the ONLY creature with a SOUL.
Gen. 2:13 KJ: “… land of ETHIOPIA.”
NASV: “… land of Cush.”
Comment: I know where Ethiopia is, but where is Cush?
Gen. 3:4-5 KJ: “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye
shall not surely die: For God doth know that
in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes
shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods,
knowing good and evil.” ——-
NASV: “And the Serpent said to the woman, ‘You
surely shall not die! For God knows that in
the day you eat from it your eyes will be
opened, and you will be like God, knowing
———
good and evil’.”
COMMENT: This is MAJOR blasphemy! God (with a big G)
is not evil! Think about the difference.
Gen. 6:8 KJ: “But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the
Lord.”
NASV: “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the
Lord.”
COMMENT: God’s GRACE was extended in the Old
Testament, too.
Gen. 22:8 KJ: “And Abraham said, My son, God will PROVIDE
HIMSELF a lamb for a burnt offering: …”
NASV: “And Abraham said, ‘God will provide FOR
HIMSELF the lamb for a burnt offering, my
son’ …”
Comment: It is true, as the NASV says, that God did
provide FOR HIMSELF a sacrifice. However,
that is only part of the story! The NASV
totally misses the DEEPER, and MORE AMAZING
TRUTH: GOD WAS THE SACRIFICE! The KJ wording
is perfect: “God will PROVIDE HIMSELF” (in
the form of his only begotten son Jesus
Christ) as the sacrifice.
Gen. 24:47 KJ: “… and I put the EARRING UPON HER FACE,
…”
NASV: “… and I put the ring on her nose, …”
COMMENT: The NASV put WHAT on her nose?
Lev. 6:21 KJ: “… FOR A SWEET SAVOUR unto the Lord.”
NASV: “… as a soothing aroma to the Lord.”
COMMENT: Whoever heard of soothing a sovereign God?
Joshua 12:23 KJ: “… the king of the NATIONS of Gilgal, …”
NASV: “… the king of the Goiim of Gilgal, …”
COMMENT: Is the NASV’s ‘Goiim’ a “simpler and more
easily understandable word” than the
King James’ “NATIONS”?
Judges 7:20 KJ: “… The sword OF the Lord, and OF Gideon.”
NASV: “… A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!”
COMMENT: Big difference in those two meanings.
2Sam. 16:4 KJ: “… And Ziba said, I humbly BESEECH thee
[that] I may find GRACE in thy sight, my
lord, O king.”
NASV: “… And Ziba said, ‘I prostrate myself; let
me find favor in your sight, O my lord, the
king!'”
2Sam. 21:19 KJ: “… Elhanan … slew [THE BROTHER OF]
Goliath …”
NASV: “… Elhanan … killed Goliath …”
COMMENT: Elhanan killed Goliath? What? Sunday school
CHILDREN know that DAVID slew Goliath! The
NASV translation ‘scholars’ really blew this
one! Oh, BTW, for a good book on the quality
of the King James translators please see:
“The Men Behind The KJV” by: Gustavus S.
Paine ISBN: 0-8010-7008-2 published by Baker
Book House.
Scholar for scholar the translators of the
KJ Bible were far greater men of God than
any today. John Bois could read the Bible,
in Hebrew, at age 5. Lancelot Andrews was
fluent in 20 languages. John Chedderton knew
Greek, Hebrew and Latin as well as you and
I know English (and better) etc. etc.
1Kings 14:24 KJ: “And there were also SODOMITES in the land:
…”
NASV: “And there were also male cult prostitutes
in the land …”
COMMENT: SODOMITES is watered down to just ‘male cult
prostitutes’ here AND in 1Kings 22:46.
Sodomy is an ABOMINATION (Lev. 18:22). But
notice: The NASV has REMOVED sodomy.
1Kings 15:12 KJ: “And he took away the SODOMITES out of the
land, …”
NASV: He also put away the male cult prostitutes
from the land, …”
COMMENT: Again, the NASV changes SODOMITES to ‘male
cult prostitutes’. This WARNING against
sodomy (“God TOOK AWAY the SODOMITES out of
the land, …”) is GONE in the NASV here in
1Kings 15:12 AND in 2Kings 23:7.
1Kings 19:12 KJ: “… A STILL SMALL VOICE.”
NASV: “… a sound of a gentle blowing.”
COMMENT: In the English language, there’s a vast
difference between ‘a gentle blowing’ and “A
STILL SMALL VOICE!” I’m sure the reader will
agree.
1Kings 20:38 KJ: “… with ASHES upon his FACE.”
NASV: “… with a bandage over his eyes.”
COMMENT: In English, “ASHES” and ‘bandage’ are two
different words entirely, so are “FACE” and
‘eyes’.
Ezra 8:36 KJ: “And they delivered the king’s commissions
unto the king’s LIEUTENANTS, …”
NASV: “Then they delivered the king’s edicts to the
king’s satraps, …”
COMMENT: Is the NASV’s ‘satraps’ a “clearer, more
easily understood word” than the King James’
“LIEUTENANTS”?
Job 19:26 KJ: “After my skin worms destroy this body, yet
IN MY FLESH shall I see God.”
NASV: “… Yet without my flesh I shall see God;”
COMMENT: The NASV denies the resurrection of the body.
Psalm 2:12 KJ: “Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, …”
NASV: “Do homage to the Son, lest He become angry,
…”
Psalm 9:17 KJ: “The wicked shall be turned INTO HELL, …”
NASV: “The wicked will return to Sheol, …”
COMMENT: In this verse the NASV has DELETED hell. Is
this an attempt to ‘sell more’ NASVs? Also
how is it the wicked ‘return to Sheol’ when
they have NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE?
Psalm 72:8 KJ: “He SHALL have dominion also FROM SEA TO
SEA, …”
NASV: “May he also rule from sea to sea, …”
COMMENT: He (Jesus Christ) SHALL have dominion is
watered down to ‘may’ he rule.
Psalm 109:6 KJ: “Set thou a wicked man over him: and let
SATAN stand at his right hand.”
NASV: “Appoint a wicked man over him; And let an
accuser stand at his right hand.”
COMMENT: In this verse in the NASV Satan has been
REMOVED.
Eccl. 5:20 KJ: “… God ANSWERETH [HIM] in the joy of his
heart.”
NASV: “… God keeps him occupied with the gladness
of his heart.”
COMMENT: The NASV translators blew this one.
Isaiah 11:3 KJ: “And shall make him of quick understanding
…”
NASV: Omitted
COMMENT: The verse is speaking about Jesus Christ and
says he will be “of quick understanding”. The
NASV omits this.
Isaiah 32:2 KJ: “And A MAN shall be as an hiding place from
the wind, …”
NASV: “And each will be like a refuge from the
wind, …”
COMMENT: The “MAN” here can be no one but Christ.
Just another case of setting the Lord Jesus
aside, and giving us a substitute. Think how
serious all these corruptions are, and how
they destroy the word of God by substitution.
Isaiah 53:10 KJ: “… when thou shalt make his soul an
OFFERING FOR SIN, …”
NASV: “… If He would render Himself as a guilt
offering, …”
COMMENT: This, in our humble opinion, is a very
serious perversion.
Daniel 3:25 KJ: “… and the form of the fourth is like THE
SON OF GOD.”
NASV: “… and the appearance of the fourth is like
a son of the gods!”
COMMENT: ‘A son of the (PLURAL) gods’? It was Jesus
Christ, THE SON OF GOD, who was in the fiery
furnace with Shadrach, Messach, and Abednego.
It was Jesus Christ who protected them. And
it is Jesus Christ who saves us from the
fiery furnace (i.e. from hell).
Hosea 11:12 KJ: “… but Judah YET RULETH WITH GOD, AND IS
FAITHFUL WITH THE SAINTS.”
NASV: “… Judah is also unruly against God, Even
against the Holy one who is faithful.”
COMMENT: What is this but perversion?
Zech. 11:17 KJ: “Woe to the IDOL shepherd that leaveth the
flock! …”
NASV: “Woe to the worthless shepherd Who leaves the
flock! …”
COMMENT: The NASV missed this one.
Matt. 2:4 KJ: “… he (King Herod) DEMANDED of them where
Christ should be born.”
NASV: “… he began to inquire of them where the
Christ was to be born.”
COMMENT: King Herod, FURIOUS over the arrival of
Jesus, (and wanting to DO AWAY with him) did
not ‘inquire’ where Christ should be born.
He DEMANDED to know!
Matt. 5:22 KJ: “But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry
with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE shall be in
danger of the judgment: …”
NASV: “but I say to you that everyone who is angry
with his brother shall be guilty before the
court; …”
COMMENT: What? The NASV says you can’t be angry with
your brother?!!! Brothers and sisters: The
Apostle Paul was angry and withstood the
Apostle Peter to his face (Gal. 2:11). Jesus
was angry with the Church at Pergamos because
of the erroneous doctrine of the Nicolaitanes
(Rev 2:15). The Bible says to BE ANGRY but
sin not (Eph. 4:26) and it says not to let
the sun go down on YOUR ANGER (Eph. 4:26).
The KJ is CORRECT: Whosoever is angry with
his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE is in danger of
the judgment. There is a HUGE difference
between those two verses.
Matt. 8:19 KJ: “And a certain scribe came, and said unto
him, MASTER, I will follow thee …”
NASV: “And a certain scribe came and said to Him,
‘Teacher, I will follow You …'”
COMMENT: Jesus AS MASTER is watered down to ‘teacher’.
Matt. 9:13 KJ: “… for I am not come to call the righteous,
but sinners TO REPENTANCE.”
NASV: “… for I did not come to call the
righteous, but sinners.”
COMMENT: Those last two words in the KJ ARE CRUCIAL.
HELL will get all of the sinners who DON’T
repent. JESUS will get all the sinners who
DO repent!
Matt. 11:23 KJ: “And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto
heaven, shalt be brought down to HELL: …”
NASV: “And you, Capernaum, … shall descend to
Hades; …”
COMMENT: Again, hell is GONE in the NASV.
Matt. 12:6 KJ: “… That in this place is [ONE] GREATER than
the temple.”
NASV: “… that something greater than the temple
is here.”
Matt. 12:32 KJ: “… but whosoever speaketh against the Holy
Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither
in THIS WORLD, neither in THE [WORLD] TO
COME.”
NASV: “… but whoever shall speak against the Holy
Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either
in this age, or in the age to come.”
Matt. 12:40 KJ: “For as Jonas was three days and three nights
in the WHALE’S belly; …”
NASV: “for just as Jonah was three days and three
nights in the belly of the sea-monster; …”
COMMENT: The Lord Jesus Christ makes ‘sea monsters’?
Matt. 12:42 KJ: “… behold, A GREATER THAN SOLOMON [is]
here.”
NASV: “… behold, something greater than Solomon
is here.”
Matt. 13:39 KJ: “… the harvest is the end of the WORLD;
…”
NASV: “… the harvest is the end of the age; …”
COMMENT: The harvest comes at the END OF THE WORLD.
Matt. 16:18 KJ: “… upon this rock I will build my church;
and the GATES OF HELL shall not prevail
against it.”
NASV: “… upon this rock I will build My church;
and the gates of Hades shall not overpower
it.”
COMMENT: Hell is gone (again) in the NASV.
Matt. 17:21 KJ: “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by
PRAYER and FASTING.”
NASV: Omitted
COMMENT: To cast out certain devils requires PRAYER
and FASTING. The NASV ignores this.
Matt. 18:11 KJ: “For the Son of man IS COME to save that
which was lost.”
NASV: “For the Son of Man has come to save that
which was lost.”
Comment: The NASV says Jesus Christ ‘has come’ to save
that which was lost: a PAST TENSE statement.
The NASV implies that ALL who were to be
saved, HAVE BEEN saved. NOT TRUE! Anyone
TODAY can be saved by Jesus. The correct
reading is PRESENT TENSE. This NASV
corruption is very subtle. There are NUMEROUS
places where the NASV changes verb tense.
Matt. 19:9 KJ: “And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put
away his wife, except [it be] for
fornication, and shall marry another,
committeth adultery: AND WHOSO MARRIETH HER
WHICH IS PUT AWAY DOTH COMMIT ADULTERY.”
NASV: “And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife,
except for immorality, and marries another
commits adultery.”
COMMENT: An IMPORTANT verse about marriage, yet the
NASV deletes about one third of it.
Matt. 19:17 KJ: “… WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? …”
NASV: “… Why are you asking Me about what is
good?”
Matt. 23:8 KJ: “But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your
MASTER, [EVEN] CHRIST; …”
NASV: “But do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is
your Teacher, and you are all brothers.”
COMMENT: MASTER is watered down to ‘teacher’ and ON
TOP OF THAT the NASV does not tell us who the
teacher is.
Matt. 24:3 KJ: “… Tell us, … of the end of the WORLD
…”
NASV: “… Tell us … of the end of the age …”
COMMENT: Jesus isn’t being asked about a “new time
period”, or a “new dispensation”. He is being
asked about the WORLD COMING TO AN END! There
is a difference.
Matt. 25:13 KJ: “… ye know neither the day nor the hour
WHEREIN THE SON OF MAN COMETH.”
NASV: “… you do not know the day nor the hour.”
COMMENT: Who is it that is coming again? That’s
right: Jesus! But, you wouldn’t know from the
NASV.
Matt. 27:4 KJ: “… I have sinned in that I have betrayed
THE INNOCENT BLOOD …”
NASV: “… I have sinned by betraying innocent
blood …”
COMMENT: Lots of people are innocent of certain
crimes. But, ONLY JESUS CHRIST was “THE”
INNOCENT BLOOD. Think about it.
Matt. 27:27 KJ: “Then the soldiers … took Jesus into the
COMMON HALL, … ”
NASV: “Then the soldiers … took Jesus into the
Praetorium …”
COMMENT: Is the NASV’s ‘Praetorium’ “simpler and more
easily understood”, than the King James’
COMMON HALL?
Mark 3:5 KJ: “… his hand was restored WHOLE AS THE
OTHER.”
NASV: “… and his hand was restored.”
Mark 6:11 KJ: “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor
hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off
the dust under your feet for a testimony
against them. VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IT SHALL
BE MORE TOLERABLE FOR SODOM AND GOMORRHA IN
THE DAY OF JUDGMENT, THAN FOR THAT CITY.”
NASV: “And any place that does not receive you or
listen to you, as you go out from there,
shake off the dust from the soles of your
feet for a testimony against them.”
COMMENT: An important WARNING from Jesus, but the NASV
leaves out about half of it.
Mark 7:16 KJ: “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.”
NASV: Omitted
COMMENT: Numbering verses 14, 15, and then 17 is NOT
new math. Note: The NASV leaves out JESUS’
COMMAND to HEAR HIM.
Mark 9:24 KJ: “… Lord, I believe; help thou mine
unbelief.”
NASV: “…’I do believe; help me in my unbelief.'”
Mark 9:44,46 KJ: “Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is
not quenched.”
NASV: This verse, in both Mark 9:44 and Mark 9:46
is omitted.
COMMENT: Their quote “best ancient manuscripts” are
Codex B and Codex Aleph: both of which are
the WORST OF ALL MANUSCRIPTS with the most
errors. Those MSS have proved to be the MOST
UNRELIABLE.
Mark 10:24 KJ: “… Children, how hard is it FOR THEM THAT
TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of
God!”
NASV: “… ‘Children, how hard it is to enter the
kingdom of God!'”
COMMENT: The problem, as correctly stated in the King
James Bible, is TRUSTING IN RICHES.
Mark 11:10 KJ: “… Blessed [be] the kingdom of our father
David, THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD:
HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST.”
NASV: “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father
David; …”
Mark 11:26 KJ: “But if ye do not forgive, neither will your
Father which is in heaven forgive your
trespasses.”
NASV: Mark 11:26 is omitted entirely but placed in
the margin in italics explaining that “later
manuscripts add verse 26.”
Mark 13:6 KJ: “For many shall come in my name, saying, I
am [CHRIST]; …”
NASV: “Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am
He!’ …”
COMMENT: ‘He’ could be ANYBODY.
Mark 15:28 KJ: “And the scripture was fulfilled, which
saith, AND HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE
TRANSGRESSORS.”
NASV: Omitted with a marginal note.
Mark 16:6 KJ: “… Be not affrighted: …”
NASV: “… Do not be amazed; …”
COMMENT: Being ‘amazed’ and being AFFRIGHTED are
different.
Luke 2:33 KJ: “And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those
things which were spoken of him.”
NASV: “And His father and mother were amazed at the
things which were being said about Him.”
COMMENT: GOD WAS THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST –
NOT Joseph! If Jesus had only an earthly
father and mother, then he is just any man.
If he is just any man, then we are still in
our sins. If we are still in our sins, then
we are not saved! If we are not saved, then
we have a BIG, BIG, problem!
Luke 2:49 KJ: “… I must be about my Father’s BUSINESS
…”
NASV: “… I had to be in My Father’s house …”
COMMENT: Come on! Don’t the “scholars” know the
difference between BUSINESS and a house?
Luke 4:4 KJ: “… man shall not live by bread alone, BUT
BY EVERY WORD OF GOD.”
NASV: “… Man shall not live on bread alone.”
COMMENT: Other than bread, what else does man need?
The NASV doesn’t say. Only the King James
tells us: We need EVERY WORD OF GOD!
Luke 4:8 KJ: “And Jesus answered and said unto him, GET
THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him
only shalt thou serve.”
NASV: “And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘It is
written, You shall worship the Lord your God
and serve Him only.'”
COMMENT: The NASV omits “Get thee behind me, Satan.”
Luke 4:18 KJ: “The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because
he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to
the poor; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE
BROKENHEARTED, to preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised,”
NASV: Luke 4:18 omits entirely, “he hath sent me
to heal the brokenhearted,”.
Luke 9:55-56 KJ: “But he turned, and rebuked them, AND SAID,
YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF.
FOR THE SON OF MAN IS NOT COME TO DESTROY
MEN’S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE [THEM]. And they
went to another village.”
NASV: “But He turned and rebuked them. And they
went on to another village.” In the margin
they say “Later manuscripts add, ‘and said,
You do not know what kind of spirit you are
of. For the Son of Man did not come to
destroy men’s lives, but to save them.'”
COMMENT: Again, this casts doubt on the veracity, the
authenticity of this passage.
Luke 11:2 KJ: “And he said unto them, When ye pray, say,
OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, Hallowed be
thy name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE,
AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH.”
NASV: “And He said to them, ‘When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom
come.'”
Luke 11:4 KJ: “… And lead us not into temptation; BUT
DELIVER US FROM EVIL.”
NASV: “… And lead us not into temptation.”
COMMENT: Half of the verse is left out.
Luke 11:29 KJ: “… but the sign of Jonas THE PROPHET.”
NASV: “… but the sign of Jonah.”
Luke 16:23 KJ: “And in HELL he lift up his eyes, …”
NASV: “And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, …”
COMMENT: Again, hell is DELETED from the NASV.
Luke 17:36 KJ: “Two [men] shall be in the field; the one
shall be taken, and the other left.”
NASV: Omitted
Luke 21:8 KJ: “… for many shall come in my name, saying,
I am [CHRIST]; …”
NASV: “… for many will come in My name, saying,
‘I am He’, …”
COMMENT: Who is this ‘He’?
Luke 23:17 KJ: “(For of necessity he must release one unto
them at the feast.)”
NASV: Luke 23:17 is omitted but has a marginal note
stating: “Some manuscripts insert verse 17,
‘Now he was obliged to release to them at the
feast one prisoner.'”
Luke 23:23 KJ: “… And the voices of them AND OF THE CHIEF
PRIESTS prevailed.”
NASV: “… And their voices began to prevail.”
Luke 23:42 KJ: “And he said unto Jesus, LORD, remember me
when thou comest into thy kingdom.”
NASV: “And he was saying, ‘Jesus, remember me when
You come in Your kingdom!'”
COMMENT: There is no explanation for leaving out
“LORD”. Note: The thief GOT SAVED, so he
addressed Jesus as LORD!!!
Luke 23:45 KJ: “The sun was DARKENED, …”
NASV: “the sun being obscured; …”
COMMENT: The crucifixion of Jesus occurred at the
time of a full moon. Therefore, a natural
eclipse (i.e an obscuration of the sun) was
IMPOSSIBLE.
Luke 24:40 KJ: “AND WHEN HE HAD THUS SPOKEN, HE SHEWED THEM
[HIS] HANDS AND [HIS] FEET.
NASV: Luke 24:40 is omitted with a marginal note,
reading, “Some manuscripts add verse 40, ‘And
when He had said this, He showed them His
hands and His feet.'”
COMMENT: This again casts doubt on such a wonderful
verse.
Luke 24:46 KJ: “… and thus it BEHOVED Christ to suffer,
…”
NASV: “… the Christ should suffer …”
COMMENT: The NASV misses a HUGE POINT: It BEHOVED
Christ to suffer. He did it WILLINGLY.
John 1:3 KJ: “All things were made BY him; …”
NASV: “All things came into being through Him; …”
COMMENT: “BY” and ‘through’ are totally different.
Think about it.
John 1:10 KJ: “He was in the world, and the world was made
BY him, …”
NASV: “… and the world was made through Him,
…”
COMMENT: Again, “BY” and ‘through’ are not the same.
John 1:42 KJ: “And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus
beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son
of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, WHICH
IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE.”
NASV: “He brought him (Simon) to Jesus. Jesus
looked at him, and said, ‘You are Simon the
son of John; you shall be called Cephas’
(which translated means Peter).”
COMMENT: The NASV CHANGES “WHICH IS BY
INTERPRETATION, A STONE” to ‘which
translated means Peter’. This CHANGE is
DISASTROUS. Jesus calls Peter “A STONE” to
differentiate Peter from Jesus who is THE
ROCK (1Co. 10:4). Thus, when Jesus says:
upon THIS ROCK (not stone) I will build my
Church (Matt. 16:18) Jesus is NOT referring
to Peter! And that is one of many errors in
Catholic doctrine.
John 3:13 KJ: “And NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven, but
he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son
of man which is in heaven.”
NASV: “And no one has ascended into heaven, but
He who descended from heaven, even the Son
of Man.”
COMMENT: Not true, NASV. Remember the angels on
Jacob’s ladder? They ascended and descended.
The KJ has the correct reading and that is:
NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven … ALSO,
remember: Satan went into heaven and made
accusations against Job (Job 1:6).
John 4:24 KJ: “God is [A] Spirit: …”
NASV: “God is spirit; …”
COMMENT: The NASV says: “God is spirit” inferring ALL
spirits are of God. NOT TRUE. We know there
are evil spirits, but in God there is NO
evil. Thus, the KJ is correct: God is “A”
spirit.
John 5:4 KJ: “For an angel went down at a certain season
into the pool, and troubled the water:
whosoever then first after the troubling of
the water stepped in was made whole of
whatsoever disease he had.”
NASV: John 5:4 is omitted but refers to a marginal
note which says, “Many authorities insert
[verse 4] wholly or in part.”
COMMENT: This injects another doubt as to the
authority and accuracy of God’s word.
John 5:16 KJ: “And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus,
AND SOUGHT TO SLAY HIM, because he had done
these things on the sabbath day.”
NASV: “And for this reason the Jews were
persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these
things on the Sabbath.”
COMMENT: There is no reason given for omitting this
phrase or for brushing over the fact that
the Jews wanted to MURDER Jesus.
John 6:33 KJ: “For the bread of God is HE which cometh down
from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.”
NASV: “For the bread of God is that which comes
down out of heaven, and gives life to the
world.”
John 6:47 KJ: “… He that believeth ON ME hath everlasting
life.”
NASV: “… he who believes has eternal life”.
COMMENT: He who believes what? The NASV doesn’t say.
We MUST believe ON JESUS.
John 6:69 KJ: “And we BELIEVE and ARE SURE that thou art
that CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD.”
NASV: “And we have believed and have come to know
that You are the Holy One of God.”
COMMENT: What happened to CHRIST? And, what happened
to him being the Son of the LIVING GOD?
John 7:53 KJ: “And every man went unto his own house.”
NASV: “And everyone went to his home;”
COMMENT: There is a marginal note here stating that
John 7:53-8:11 is not found in most of the
old manuscripts. THIS IS NOT TRUE. The
British Museum has 73 manuscripts and 61 have
this passage. Doubtless Aleph and B are
referred to as the “old manuscripts” and they
are TWO OF THE WORST as we have noted before.
John 8:9 KJ: “And they which heard [it], BEING CONVICTED
BY [THEIR OWN] CONSCIENCE, went out one by
one, …”
NASV: “And when they heard it, they began to go out
one by one, …”
COMMENT: No reason is given for omitting this phrase.
John 8:59 KJ: “Then took they up stones to cast at him: but
Jesus hid himself, and went out of the
temple, GOING THROUGH THE MIDST OF THEM, AND
SO PASSED BY.”
NASV: “Therefore they picked up stones to throw at
Him; but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of
the temple.”
COMMENT: Quite a different thought.
John 9:4 KJ: “I must work the works of him that sent me,
…”
NASV: “We must work the works of Him who sent Me,
…”
John 9:35 KJ: “… Dost thou believe on the SON OF GOD?”
NASV: “… Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
John 10:30 KJ: “I and [MY] Father are one.”
NASV: “‘I and the Father are one.'”
COMMENT: Notice: The KJ’s MY FATHER is replaced by
‘the’ father. Thus, the NASV deletes the
PERSONAL relationship of “MY FATHER” between
Jesus and the heavenly Father.
John 14:16 KJ: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall
give you another COMFORTER, …”
NASV: “And I will ask the Father, and He will give
you another Helper, …”
John 14:26 KJ: “But the COMFORTER, [which is] the Holy
Ghost, …”
NASV: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, …”
John 15:26 KJ: “But when the COMFORTER is come, …”
NASV: “When the Helper comes, …”
John 16:7 KJ: “… for if I go not away, the COMFORTER
will not come …”
NASV: “… for if I do not go away, the Helper
shall not come …”
John 17:5 KJ: “And now, O Father, glorify thou me with
thine own self WITH THE GLORY WHICH I HAD
WITH THEE BEFORE THE WORLD WAS.”
NASV: “… glorify Thou Me together with Thyself,
…'”
John 18:28 KJ: “Then led they Jesus … unto the HALL OF
JUDGMENT: …”
NASV: “They led Jesus … into the Praetorium; …”
COMMENT: Is the NASV’s Praetorium really “simpler,
and more understandable” than the KJ’s HALL
OF JUDGMENT?
Acts 2:30 KJ: “… that God had sworn with an oath to him,
that of the fruit of his loins, ACCORDING TO
THE FLESH, HE WOULD RAISE UP CHRIST to sit
on his throne;”
NASV: “… seat one of his descendants on his
throne,”
COMMENT: The NASV totally misses the point. It wasn’t
just ‘a descendant’ that would sit on the
throne; it was GOD ALMIGHTY (Jesus Christ).
Acts 2:47 KJ: “… And the Lord ADDED TO THE CHURCH daily
such as SHOULD BE saved.”
NASV: “… the Lord was adding to their number day
by day those who were BEING SAVED.”
COMMENT: The people that were added were added to THE
CHURCH (not to a generic ‘number’). Also,
salvation is an IMMEDIATE event. It is NOT
A PROCESS. People are either saved or they
are not. They are NOT ‘being’ saved.
Acts 3:13 KJ: “The God of Abraham, … hath glorified HIS
SON Jesus; …”
NASV: “The God of Abraham … has glorified His
Servant Jesus, …”
COMMENT: Jesus as GOD’S SON has been watered down to
just ‘servant’.
Acts 3:26 KJ: “… God, having raised up HIS SON Jesus,
…”
NASV: “… God raised up His Servant, …”
COMMENT: Again, the NASV waters down Jesus as GOD’S
SON to just ‘servant’ AND the NASV doesn’t
even NAME the ‘servant’.
Acts 4:13 KJ: “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and
John, and perceived that they were unlearned
and IGNORANT men, …”
NASV: “Now as they observed the confidence of Peter
and John, and understood that they were
uneducated and untrained men, …”
COMMENT: Untrained? Untrained? WHAT? Peter and John
had been WITH JESUS for SOME TIME. They were
NOT untrained! JESUS HAD TRAINED THEM! They
were trained BY GOD ALMIGHTY: THE BEST
TRAINER in the UNIVERSE! They were, however,
ignorant.
Acts 4:27 KJ: “… thy HOLY CHILD Jesus, whom thou hast
anointed, …”
NASV: “… Thy holy Servant Jesus, whom Thou didst
anoint, …”
COMMENT: Again, the NASV waters down Jesus. This time
GOD’S HOLY CHILD is watered down to just
a ‘holy servant’.
Acts 4:30 KJ: “… thy HOLY CHILD Jesus.”
NASV: “… Thy holy Servant Jesus.”
COMMENT: One more time: The NASV waters down Jesus.
GOD’S HOLY CHILD is watered down to ‘holy
servant’.
Acts 8:9 KJ: “… a certain man, … used sorcery, and
BEWITCHED the people …”
NASV: “… a certain man … who … practicing
magic … and astonishing the people …”
COMMENT: No! No! No! He didn’t ‘astonish’ the
people (as if they were being
entertained/amazed). No, he BEWITCHED them
(to their DETRIMENT).
Acts 8:37 KJ: “And Philip said, IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL
THINE HEART, THOU MAYEST. And he answered
and said, I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE
SON OF GOD.”
NASV: Acts 8:37 is omitted with a marginal note
stating, “Late manuscripts insert verse
37,’And Philip said, If you believe with all
your heart, you may. And he answered and
said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son
of God.'”
COMMENT: Both Codex Aleph and B leave this verse out
and they are TWO OF THE WORST manuscripts;
again this casts doubt upon another section
of God’s word.
Acts 9:5-6 KJ: “And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the
Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:
[IT IS] HARD FOR THEE TO KICK AGAINST THE
PRICKS. AND HE TREMBLING AND ASTONISHED
SAID, LORD, WHAT WILT THOU HAVE ME TO DO?
And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go
into the city, and it shall be told thee what
thou must do.”
NASV: “And he said, ‘Who art Thou, Lord?’ And He
said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,
but rise, and enter the city, and it shall
be told you what you must do.'”
COMMENT: Truly the translators have emasculated these
two verses and give no reason at all for
their omission. Again they would inject a
doubt into the mind of one who believes the
Bible to be the verbally inspired word of
God.
Acts 9:20 KJ: “And straightway he preached CHRIST …”
NASV: “and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus
…”
COMMENT: CHRIST is missing.
Acts 10:37 KJ: “THAT WORD, [I say], ye know, which was
PUBLISHED throughout all Judaea, and began
from Galilee, after the baptism which John
preached;”
NASV: “you yourselves know the thing which took
place throughout all Judea, starting from
Galilee, after the baptism which John
proclaimed.”
COMMENT: Notice how VAGUE the NASV is. It says: ‘you
know the thing that happened …’ but then
doesn’t say WHAT HAPPENED! The KJ tells us:
THE WORD WAS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDEA.
Acts 12:4 KJ: “… after EASTER …”
NASV: “… after the Passover … ”
COMMENT: Herod was a HEATHEN King so he did NOT regard
Passover. He would have regarded Easter,
though. Note: Passover is BIBLICAL. But
research Easter and you will find out it
is PAGAN.
Acts 15:11 KJ: “But we believe that through the grace of the
Lord Jesus CHRIST we shall be saved, even as
they.”
NASV: “But we believe that we are saved through the
grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as
they also are.”
COMMENT: What happened to “CHRIST”?
Acts 15:34 KJ: “Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide
there still.”
NASV: Acts 15:34 is omitted with a marginal note,
“Some manuscripts add verse 34, ‘But it
seemed good to Silas to remain there.'”
COMMENT: Another doubt cast on God’s word.
Acts 16:31 KJ: “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus
CHRIST, and thou shalt be saved, and thy
house.”
NASV: “And they said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus,
and you shall be saved, you and your
household.'”
COMMENT: Again they omit “Christ”.
Acts 17:22 KJ: “Then Paul stood in the midst of MARS’ hill,
and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that
in all things ye are TOO SUPERSTITIOUS.”
NASV: “And Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus
and said, ‘Men of Athens, I observe that you
are very religious in all respects.”
Comment: Being very religious and TOO SUPERSTITIOUS
are entirely different! Also, is the NASV’s
‘Areopagus’ “simpler, and more
understandable”, than the King James’ MARS’
HILL?
Acts 17:29 KJ: “… we ought not to think that the GODHEAD
is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, …”
NASV: “… we ought not to think that the Divine
Nature is like gold or silver or stone, …”
COMMENT: The GODHEAD is watered down to just ‘divine
nature’.
Acts 18:12 KJ: “And when Gallio was the DEPUTY of Achaia,
…”
NASV: “… while Gallio was proconsul of Achaia,
…”
COMMENT: Is the NASV’s ‘proconsul’ a “simpler and
more easily understandable word” than the
King James’ DEPUTY?
Acts 20:23-24 KJ: “… the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every
city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide
me. BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME, neither
count I my life dear unto myself, so that I
might finish my course with joy, …”
NASV: The following is omitted, “But none of these
things move me,” and no reason is given for
the omission.
COMMENT: Note: The Apostle Paul was NOT MOVED by his
circumstances. Thus, he could preach the
Gospel with BOLDNESS! May we have the same
attitude Paul had and may we also preach
with BOLDNESS! Thanks to the King James
Bible for giving us insight into this man
of God.
Acts 23:9 KJ: “… let us not fight against God.”
NASV: Omitted
Acts 24:6-7 KJ: “Who also hath gone about to profane the
temple: whom we took, and would have judged
according to our law. But the chief captain
Lysias came [upon us], and with great
violence took [him] away out of our hands,”
NASV: Most of this has been omitted and only a weak
explanation is given in the margin.
Acts 24:14 KJ: “But this I confess unto thee, that after
the way which they call HERESY, so worship
I the God of my fathers, …”
NASV: “But this I admit to you, that according to
the Way which they call a sect I do serve the
God of our fathers, …”
COMMENT: The unbelievers that came against the Apostle
Paul did NOT think Christianity was a ‘sect’.
No! They thought it was HERESY.
Acts 25:23 KJ:
NASV: “Accompanied” is spelled wrong. They have
it “accompained.”
Acts 28:29 KJ: “And when he had said these words, the Jews
departed, and had great reasoning among
themselves.”
NASV: Acts 28:29 is omitted with a marginal note
saying, “Some manuscripts add verse 29 …”
COMMENT: The vast majority of MSS add this verse!
This is still another doubt cast upon the
Word of God.
Romans 1:16 KJ: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel OF
CHRIST: …”
NASV: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it
is the power of God …”
COMMENT: Whose gospel? The key words are: OF CHRIST.
The NASV leaves us guessing.
Romans 1:18 KJ: “… men, who HOLD THE TRUTH in
unrighteousness;”
NASV: “… men, who suppress the truth in
unrighteousness,”
Romans 1:25 KJ: “Who CHANGED the truth of God INTO a lie,
…”
NASV: “… they exchanged the truth of God for a
lie, …”
COMMENT: Those 2 verses are NOT the same.
Romans 6:18 KJ: “Being then made free from sin, ye
became the SERVANTS of righteousness.”
NASV: “and having been freed from sin, you
became slaves of righteousness.”
COMMENT: Are we ‘slaves’ or “SERVANTS”? Answer:
SERVANTS! Think about the difference.
Romans 6:19 KJ: “… now yield your members SERVANTS to
righteousness …”
NASV: “… so now present your members as
slaves to righteousness, …”
COMMENT: Again, are we ‘slaves’ or “SERVANTS”?
Answer: SERVANTS! There is a difference.
Romans 6:22 KJ: “But now being made free from sin, and
become SERVANTS to God, …”
NASV: “But now having been freed from sin and
enslaved to God, …”
COMMENT: WHAT? ‘Enslaved to God’? No! No! No! We
are “SERVANTS” to God, as properly
stated in the King James Bible.
Romans 13:9 KJ: “… Thou shalt not bear false witness, …”
NASV: Omitted
COMMENT: The Bible says that all liars (false
witnesses) go to the lake of fire
(Rev. 21:8). So, why leave this out?
Romans 14:1 KJ: “Him that is weak in the faith receive ye,
[but] not to DOUBTFUL disputations.”
NASV: “Now accept the one who is weak in faith,
but not for the purpose of passing judgment
on his opinions.”
COMMENT: Notice: The KJ does NOT say we cannot
have disputes; only that we should not
have DOUBTFUL disputes. What are
doubtful disputes? Whether we can ‘eat
all things’ or only ‘herbs'(Romans 14:2)
or whether we ‘esteem every day alike’
or ‘one day over another’ (Romans 14:5).
But, in the NASV we would NEVER DISPUTE
ANYTHING including KEY DOCTRINE like
Paul and Barnabus going up to Jerusalem
concerning whether circumcision was
necessary for salvation (Acts 15:1-2).
The NASV would also come against both
Titus 1:9 where we are to use sound
doctrine to CONVINCE THE GAINSAYERS
and 2Tim. 3:16 where ALL SCRIPTURE is
profitable for REPROOF and for
CORRECTION.
Romans 15:19 KJ: “Through mighty signs and wonders, by the
power of the Spirit OF GOD; …”
NASV: “in the power of signs and wonders, in the
power of the Spirit; so that from Jerusalem
and round about …”
Romans 16:24 KJ: “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with
you all. Amen.”
NASV: Romans 16:24 is omitted with a marginal note
stating, “Some ancient manuscripts add verse
24, ‘The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be
with you all. Amen.'”
COMMENT: The vast majority add this verse, not just
some.
1Cor. 1:18 KJ: “For the preaching of the cross is to them
that perish foolishness; but unto us which
ARE SAVED it is the power of God.”
NASV: “For the word of the cross is to those who
are perishing foolishness, but to us who are
being saved it is the power of God.”
COMMENT: ‘Being saved’? AGAIN, the NASV is teaching
that salvation is a PROCESS. NOT TRUE. It is
an IMMEDIATE EVENT.
1Cor. 1:21 KJ: “… it pleased God by the FOOLISHNESS OF
PREACHING to save them that believe.”
NASV: “… God was well pleased through the
foolishness of the message preached to save
those who believe.”
COMMENT: Contrary to what the NASV says, THE GOSPEL
MESSAGE IS NOT FOOLISHNESS.
1Cor. 1:22 KJ: “For the Jews REQUIRE a sign, …”
NASV: “For indeed Jews ask for signs, …”
1Cor. 5:4 KJ: “In the name of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, when
ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with
the power of our Lord Jesus CHRIST,”
NASV: “In the name of the Lord Jesus, when you are
assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the
power of our Lord Jesus,”
COMMENT: IN BOTH CASES THE NAME “CHRIST” is omitted
with no reason given. Why do the translators
of the NASV dislike the name “CHRIST” so
much?
1Cor. 5:7 KJ: “… For even Christ our passover is
sacrificed FOR US:”
NASV: “… For Christ our Passover also has been
sacrificed.”
COMMENT: If Christ is not sacrificed FOR US we cannot
be saved! Also, Christ’s WHOLE PURPOSE was
to be sacrificed for us! The NASV misses
the point don’t you think?
1Cor. 6:20 KJ: “For ye are bought with a price: therefore
glorify God in your body, AND IN YOUR SPIRIT,
WHICH ARE GOD’S.”
NASV: “For you have been bought with a price:
therefore glorify God in your body.”
1Cor. 9:1 KJ: “… have I not seen Jesus CHRIST our Lord?
…”
NASV: “… Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? …”
COMMENT: Again, there is no reason given for omitting
the name “CHRIST”.
1Cor. 9:27 KJ: “But I keep … my body, … into subjection:
lest … I myself should be a CASTAWAY.”
NASV: “but I buffet my body … lest … I myself
should be disqualified.”
COMMENT: Being a CASTAWAY and being disqualified are
VERY DIFFERENT. Think about it.
1Cor. 11:24 KJ: “And when he had given thanks, he brake [it],
and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which
is BROKEN for you: …”
NASV: “and when He had given thanks, He broke it,
and said, ‘This is My body, which is for you;
do this in remembrance of Me.'”
COMMENT: The NASV misses a HUGE point: Christ’s body
WAS BROKEN for us. Also notice: The NASV
does not say what to ‘do’ with the bread.
The King James is clear: “Take, EAT: …”
1Cor. 16:23 KJ: “The grace of our Lord Jesus CHRIST [be] with
you.”
NASV: “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.”
COMMENT: Why do they keep eliminating the name
“Christ”?
2Cor. 2:15 KJ: “For we are unto God a sweet savour of
Christ, in them THAT ARE SAVED, …”
NASV: “For we are a fragrance of Christ to God
among those who are being saved …”
COMMENT: Again? The NASV is teaching salvation is a
PROCESS. WRONG! It is an IMMEDIATE EVENT.
2Cor. 2:17 KJ: “For we are not as many, which CORRUPT the
word of God: …”
NASV: “For we are not like many, peddling the word
of God, …”
COMMENT: Peddling and CORRUPTING are VERY DIFFERENT.
‘New’ versions like the NASV try and hide
from the truth they are CORRUPTING the word
of God.
2Cor. 5:17 KJ: “… behold, ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.”
NASV: “… behold, new things have come.”
COMMENT: Note: The NASV CHANGED THE VERB TENSE to past
tense. This is incorrect as the Christian
walk is a DAILY (present tense) walk where
all things ARE BECOME new. New situations
happen for the Christian DAILY. This is not
the only place where the NASV changes verb
tense.
2Cor. 10:4 KJ: “(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not
carnal, BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling
down of strong holds;)”
NASV: “for the weapons of our warfare are not of
the flesh, but divinely powerful for the
destruction of fortresses.”
2Cor. 10:5 KJ: “Casting down IMAGINATIONS, and every high
thing …”
NASV: We are destroying speculations and every
lofty thing …”
COMMENT: It’s IMAGINATIONS that can sometimes BAIT US
into sin.
2Cor. 11:31 KJ: “The God and Father of OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST,
…”
NASV: “The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, …”
COMMENT: We ask in all sincerity, “Are the translators
anxious to get rid of the name CHRIST
altogether?”
Gal. 2:20 KJ: “I AM CRUCIFIED with Christ: nevertheless I
LIVE; …”
NASV: “I have been crucified with Christ; and it
is no longer I who live, …””
COMMENT: The NASV is saying their crucifixion is over!
NOT TRUE. The believers crucifixion is an
ongoing, PRESENT TENSE, transaction. Also,
we are not ‘dead’ the way the NASV implies.
Gal. 5:12 KJ: “I would they were even cut off which trouble
you.”
NASV: “Would that those who are troubling you would
even MUTILATE themselves.”
COMMENT: WHAT? The NASV says the Apostle Paul wanted
people to be MUTILATED? Come on! What kind
of PERVERSION is the NASV teaching?
Gal. 6:17 KJ: “… for I bear IN my body the marks of the
LORD JESUS.”
NASV: “… for I bear on my body the brand-marks
of Jesus.”
COMMENT: The translators don’t seem to like the name
“Lord” either. Also, we are NOT talking about
CATTLE BRANDING here! The marks of the Lord
Jesus are IN our body, NOT on.
Eph. 3:14 KJ: “For this cause I bow my knees unto the
Father OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST,”
NASV: “For this reason, I bow my knees before the
Father,”
COMMENT: Which Father is the NASV talking about? Satan
is a father (the “father of lies”). Only the
KJ says: It is the Father OF THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST.
Eph. 5:1 KJ: “Be ye therefore FOLLOWERS of God, …”
NASV: “Therefore be imitators of God, …”
Comment: The NASV documents Satan’s position EXACTLY.
Think about it: Only Satan tries to imitate
God as Satan wants to be worshipped AS God.
In Isa. 14:14 it quotes Satan as saying: “…
I will BE LIKE the most high.”. Born again
believers cannot imitate God. We can’t run
the universe! We can only FOLLOW God.
Remember, Jesus DID NOT tell his “fishers of
men” to imitate him. Jesus said: “follow me
…”.
Eph. 5:9 KJ: “(For the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT [is] in all
goodness and righteousness and truth;)”
NASV: “(for the fruit of the light consists in all
goodness and righteousness and truth),”
COMMENT: Who/what is this ‘light’ that the NASV is
referring to? Also, “SPIRIT” and ‘light’ are
NOT the same.
Philip. 2:6 KJ: “Who, being in the form of God, thought it
not robbery TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD:”
NASV: “who, although He existed in the form of
God, did not regard equality with God a thing
to be grasped,”
COMMENT: Those 2 verses are DIFFERENT.
Philip. 3:8 KJ: “… DUNG, …”
NASV: “… rubbish …”
COMMENT: I have rubbish on the top of my office desk,
but I don’t want “DUNG” there!!!
Philip. 3:21 KJ: “Who shall change our VILE BODY, that it may
be fashioned like unto his glorious body,
…”
NASV: “who will transform the body of our humble
state into conformity with the body of His
glory,”
COMMENT: ‘Humble body’? The problem is that our
bodies are VILE. Our heart is desperately
WICKED (Jer. 17:9). Our flesh is SINFUL
(Romans 8:3). There is no good thing that
DWELLS in our flesh (Romans 7:18) etc.
Col. 1:14 KJ: “In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS
BLOOD, [even] the forgiveness of sins:”
NASV: “in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness
of sins.”
COMMENT: NASV omits “through his blood”. Why omit
the blood? This omission can be traced, as
usual, to the manuscripts classed as “Neutral
Texts” by Westcott and Hort. These are in
agreement with the Vatican and Sinaitic
manuscripts: two of the WORST manuscripts.
Remember: Without the shedding of blood there
is NO REMISSION (Heb. 9:22).
Col. 1:16 KJ: “For BY HIM were all things created, …”
NASV: “For in Him all things were created, …”
COMMENT: “BY” and ‘in’ are NOT the same.
Col. 2:2 KJ: “… to the acknowledgement of the mystery
OF GOD, AND OF THE FATHER, AND OF CHRIST.”
NASV: “… in a true knowledge of God’s mystery,
that is, Christ Himself,”
COMMENT: God the FATHER is OMITTED.
Col. 2:11 KJ: “… in putting off the body of THE SINS of
the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:”
NASV: “… in the removal of the body of the flesh
by the circumcision of Christ;”
Col. 3:2 KJ: “Set your AFFECTION on things above, …”
NASV: “Set your mind on the things above, …”
COMMENT: The ‘mind’ can be an issue, but like the
King James says: The HEART (our AFFECTION)
is the BIGGER issue. See also Proverbs 4:23.
1Thes. 2:19 KJ: “… in the presence of our Lord Jesus CHRIST
at his coming?”
NASV: “… in the presence of our Lord Jesus at His
coming?”
1Thes. 3:11 KJ: “Now God himself and our Father, and our
Lord Jesus CHRIST, direct our way unto you.”
NASV: “Now may our God and Father Himself and Jesus
our Lord direct our way to you;”
1Thes. 5:22 KJ: “Abstain from ALL APPEARANCE of evil.”
NASV: “abstain from every form of evil.”
COMMENT: We SHOULD abstain from every FORM of evil.
But, MORE THAN THAT, we are to abstain from
ALL APPEARANCE of evil.
1Tim. 1:1 KJ: “… and LORD JESUS CHRIST, [which is] our
hope;”
NASV: “… and of Christ Jesus, who is our hope;”
1Tim. 1:17 KJ: “… the only WISE God, [be] honour and glory
…”
NASV: “… the only God, be honor and glory …”
1Tim. 3:16 KJ: “… GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, …”
NASV: “… He who was revealed in the flesh, …”
COMMENT: WHO is ‘he’? He could be ANYBODY! Yours
truly is a ‘he’ and I have been seen in the
flesh every day, but that DOESN’T COMPARE to
GOD BEING MANIFEST in the flesh!
1Tim. 5:21 KJ: “I charge [thee] before God, and the LORD
JESUS CHRIST, …”
NASV: “I solemnly charge you in the presence of
God and of Christ Jesus …”
1Tim. 6:1 KJ: “… that the name of God and HIS DOCTRINE
be not BLASPHEMED.”
NASV: “… that the name of God and OUR doctrine
may not be spoken against.”
COMMENT: The doctrine we preach is HIS (i.e. God’s).
It is not ‘our’ doctrine as the NASV states.
1Tim. 6:5 KJ: “… men of corrupt minds, and destitute of
the truth, SUPPOSING that GAIN IS GODLINESS:
FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF.”
NASV: “… men of depraved mind and deprived of
the truth, WHO SUPPOSE that GODLINESS IS A
MEANS OF GAIN.”
COMMENT: The NASV twists this verse. Re-read it
carefully. Also note: The NASV deletes the
command for us to withdraw ourselves from
such people.
1Tim. 6:10 KJ: “For the love of money is THE root of all
evil: …”
NASV: “For the love of money is a root of all sorts
of evil, …”
COMMENT: There is a big difference between the NASV’s
‘a’ root and the correct King James reading
of “THE” root.
1Tim. 6:20 KJ: “… avoiding … oppositions of SCIENCE
falsely so called:”
NASV: “… avoiding … the opposing arguments of
what is falsely called ‘knowledge’-”
COMMENT: It’s NOT ‘knowledge’ that sometimes attacks
the gospel, it’s “SCIENCE” falsely so called.
For example: The theory of evolution, which,
BTW, has been proven wrong at some good
creationist web sites, like:
http://www.drdino.com
http://www.answersingenesis.org
http://www.icr.org
2Tim 1:7 KJ: “For God hath not given us the spirit of
fear; but of power, and of love, and of
a SOUND MIND.”
NASV: “For God has not given us a spirit of
timidity, but of power and love and
discipline.”
COMMENT: God has given us a SOUND MIND (KJ). But,
it is GONE in the NASV.
2Tim. 2:15 KJ: “STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God,
…”
NASV: “Be diligent to present yourself approved
to God …”
COMMENT: We are supposed to STUDY the word of God.
2Tim. 2:25 KJ: “… instructing those that OPPOSE
THEMSELVES; …”
NASV: “… correcting those who are in opposition;
…”
COMMENT: The NASV is exactly backwards.
2Tim. 3:3 KJ: “… despisers of THOSE THAT ARE GOOD,”
NASV: “… haters of good,”
COMMENT: Quite a difference in the meaning of those
two phrases.
2Tim. 4:1 KJ: “I charge [thee] therefore before God, AND
THE LORD Jesus Christ, …”
NASV: “I solemnly charge you in the presence of God
and of Christ Jesus, …”
Titus 1:4 KJ: “… from God the Father and THE LORD Jesus
Christ our Saviour.”
NASV: “… from God the Father and Christ Jesus our
Savior.”
Titus 3:10 KJ: “A man that is an HERETICK after the first
and second admonition reject;”
NASV: “Reject a factious man after a first and
second warning,”
COMMENT: What? Reject a ‘factious man’? The KJ is
correct: The one that holds to false doctrine
(the HERETICK) is the one to be rejected.
Philemon 6 KJ: “… every good thing which is in you IN
CHRIST JESUS.”
NASV: “… every good thing which is in you for
Christ’s sake.”
COMMENT: The KJ gives glory to CHRIST JESUS; the NASV
emphasizes MAN.
Heb. 1:3 KJ: (Jesus) “Who BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF [his]
glory, and the express image of his person.
… when he had BY HIMSELF PURGED OUR SINS,
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on
high;”
NASV: “And He is the radiance of His glory and the
exact representation of His nature, … When
He had made purification of sins, He sat down
at the right hand of the Majesty on high;”
COMMENT: BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF and radiating it are
very different! Also, Jesus Christ did it
ALONE and he did it FOR US!
Heb. 2:16 KJ: “For verily he took not on [him the nature
of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of
Abraham.”
NASV: “For assuredly He does not give help to
angels, but He gives help to the seed of
Abraham.”
COMMENT: The NASV is not even close.
Heb. 3:1 KJ: “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of THE
heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and
High Priest of our PROFESSION, CHRIST Jesus;”
NASV: “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a
heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle
and High Priest of our confession.”
COMMENT: CHRIST is left out and “THE” heavenly calling
is changed to ‘a’ heavenly calling. Also,
don’t the translators know the difference
between a “PROFESSION” and a ‘confession’?
Heb. 3:16 KJ: “FOR SOME, when they had heard, did provoke:
howbeit NOT ALL that came out of Egypt by
Moses.”
NASV: “For who provoked Him when they had heard?
Indeed, did not all those who came out of
Egypt led by Moses?”
COMMENT: The NASV is exactly BACKWARDS.
Heb. 4:8 KJ: “For if JESUS had given them REST, then would
he not afterward have spoken of another day.”
NASV: “For if Joshua had given them rest, He would
not have spoken of another day after that.”
COMMENT: Our “REST” is in the LORD JESUS not in
Joshua!
Heb. 7:21 KJ: “… Thou [art] a priest for ever AFTER THE
ORDER OF MELCHISEDEC:)”
NASV: “… Thou art a priest forever’);”
COMMENT: What KIND of priest? We don’t know from the
NASV because “After the order of Melchisedec”
is omitted.
Heb. 10:30 KJ: “For we know him that hath said, Vengeance
[belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, SAITH
THE LORD. …”
NASV: “For we know Him who said, ‘Vengeance is
Mine, I will repay.’…”
COMMENT: ‘Knowing him who said …’ is vague and could
be anybody. This verse is supposed to be
about GOD, as stated in the King James Bible.
Heb. 11:6 KJ: “… he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY
seek him.”
NASV: “… He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
COMMENT: We must DILIGENTLY seek him.
Heb. 12:2 KJ: “Looking unto Jesus the author and FINISHER
of [OUR] faith; …”
NASV: “fixing our eyes on Jesus the author and
perfecter of faith, …”
James 5:16 KJ: “Confess [your] FAULTS one to another, …”
NASV: “Therefore, confess your sins to one another,
…”
COMMENT: The Bible says that ONLY GOD can forgive
sins. Therefore, we are supposed to confess
our SINS to him. We should, however, confess
our FAULTS to one another. Note: This
doctrinal error in the NASV is ALSO in
Catholic doctrine and practices.
1Peter 1:22 KJ: “Seeing ye have purified your souls in
obeying the truth THROUGH THE SPIRIT …”
NASV: “Since you have in obedience to the truth
purified your souls …”
COMMENT: What happened to God’s Holy Spirit? The
King James gives God’s Holy Spirit the glory.
The NASV credits man.
1Peter 2:2 KJ: “Desire the sincere milk of the word, that
ye may GROW THEREBY:”
NASV: “… long for the pure milk of the word, THAT
BY IT YOU MAY GROW IN RESPECT TO SALVATION,”
1Peter 3:15 KJ: “But sanctify THE LORD GOD in your hearts:
…”
NASV: “but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts,
…”
COMMENT: Is this ANOTHER attempt to do away with the
DEITY of our Lord?
1Peter 4:1 KJ: “Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered FOR
US in the flesh, …”
NASV: “… since Christ has suffered in the flesh,
…”
COMMENT: Christ suffered FOR US. Kind of important
don’t you think?
1Peter 4:14 KJ: “If ye be reproached for the name of Christ,
happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and
of God resteth upon you: ON THEIR PART HE IS
EVIL SPOKEN OF, BUT ON YOUR PART HE IS
GLORIFIED.”
NASV: “If you are reviled for the name of Christ,
you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory
and of God rests upon you.”
COMMENT: The NASV leaves out the glory God deserves.
2Peter 2:1 KJ: “… there shall be false teachers among you,
who privily shall bring in DAMNABLE HERESIES,
…”
NASV: “… there will also be false teachers among
you, who will secretly introduce destructive
heresies, …”
COMMENT: The problem is that the heresies are
DAMNABLE.
1John 1:7 KJ: “… and the blood of Jesus CHRIST his Son
cleanseth us from all sin.”
NASV: “… and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses
us from all sin.”
1John 2:20 KJ: “But ye have AN UNCTION from the Holy One,
and ye know all things.”
NASV: “But you have an anointing from the Holy
One, and you all know.”
COMMENT: Are “UNCTION” and ‘anointing’ the same?
1John 3:16 KJ: “Hereby perceive we the LOVE [OF GOD], …”
NASV: “We know love by this, …”
COMMENT: God is left out! What happened to GIVING GOD
THE GLORY for his love?
1John 4:3 KJ: “And every spirit that confesseth not that
Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of
God.”
NASV: “and every spirit that does not confess Jesus
is not from God; …”
COMMENT: Not true NASV! Remember, EVIL SPIRITS DID
CONFESS/ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS. In Luke 4:34 (and
in Mark 1:24) a man having a “spirit of an
unclean devil” said to Jesus: “… Let [us]
alone; what have we to do with thee, [THOU]
JESUS OF NAZARETH? art thou come to destroy
us? I KNOW THEE who thou art; THE HOLY ONE
OF GOD.”
‘New versions’ like the NASV corrupt the
test for the anti-christ/test for evil
spirits.
1John 4:19 KJ: “We love HIM, because he first loved us.”
NASV: “We love, because He first loved us.”
COMMENT: The NASV missed the topic, totally. “We love
HIM, because he first loved us.”
1John 5:6-7 KJ: “This is HE that came by water and blood,
[even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but
by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that
beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
FOR THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR RECORD IN
HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY
GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE.”
NASV: “This is the one who came by water and blood,
Jesus Christ; not with water only, but with
the water and with the blood. And it is the
Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit
is the truth.
COMMENT: The text in capital letters is missing in
the NASV.
1John 5:8 KJ: “And there are three that bear witness IN
EARTH, the spirit, and the water, and the
blood: and these three agree IN ONE.”
NASV: “For there are three that bear witness, the
Spirit and the water and the blood; and the
three are in agreement.”
1John 5:13 KJ: “… that ye may know that ye have eternal
life, AND THAT YE MAY BELIEVE ON THE NAME OF
THE SON OF GOD.”
NASV: “… in order that you may know that you have
eternal life.”
COMMENT: No reason is given for this phrase being
omitted.
2John 1:3 KJ: “Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from
God the Father, AND FROM THE LORD JESUS
CHRIST, the Son of the Father, in truth and
love.”
NASV: “Grace, mercy and peace will be with us, from
God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son
of the Father, in truth and love.”
Rev. 1:9 KJ: “… and FOR the testimony of Jesus CHRIST.”
NASV: “… and the testimony of Jesus.”
Rev. 1:11 KJ: “Saying, I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND
THE LAST: and, What thou seest, write in a
book, …”
NASV: “saying, ‘Write in a book what you see, …'”
COMMENT: Jesus as the ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND
THE LAST: is omitted.
Rev. 5:14 KJ: “… And the four [and] twenty elders fell
down and worshipped HIM THAT LIVETH FOR EVER
AND EVER.
NASV: “… And the elders fell down and
worshipped.”
COMMENT: Worshipped WHO? John? Sam? Sally? The devil?
Who? The NASV doesn’t say. But, in the King
James it is CLEAR: We worship him that
“LIVETH FOR EVER”!
Rev. 6:17 KJ: “For the great day of HIS wrath is come; and
who shall be able to stand?”
NASV: “for the great day of their wrath has come;
and who is able to stand?”
COMMENT: There is quite a difference between THEIR
wrath and HIS wrath!
Rev. 8:13 KJ: “… and heard AN ANGEL flying …”
NASV: “… and I heard an eagle flying …”
COMMENT: How can the translators mis-translate ANGEL
as eagle?
Rev. 13:16 KJ: “And he causeth all, … to receive a mark
IN their right hand, or IN their foreheads:”
NASV: “And he causes all, … to be given a mark
ON their right hand or ON their forehead,”
COMMENT: The “mark of the beast” will be IN the right
hand or IN the forehead (as in the
possibility of a microchip, or something IN
the skin that CANNOT be washed off, etc.).
Note: Something ON the right hand or ON the
forehead could be more easily REMOVED.
Rev. 15:3 KJ: “… thou King OF SAINTS.”
NASV: “… Thou King of the nations.”
COMMENT: There is a difference. Think about it.
Rev. 16:7 KJ: “And I heard ANOTHER OUT OF THE ALTAR SAY,
…”
NASV: “And I heard the altar saying, …”
COMMENT: Whoever heard of an altar TALKING?
Rev. 19:8 KJ: “And to her was granted that she should be
arrayed in fine linen, clean and WHITE: for
the fine linen is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of
saints.”
NASV: “And it was given to her to clothe herself
in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine
linen is the righteous acts of the saints.”
COMMENT: The linen of the saints is WHITE because
WHITE symbolizes PURITY. ‘Bright’ could be
ANY COLOR. Also, fine linen is the
RIGHTEOUSNESS of saints (which GOD GAVE TO
US and he gets the GLORY for it). The fine
linen IS NOT the righteous ACTS of the saints
(which would give man the glory).
Rev. 20:9 KJ: “… and fire came down FROM GOD out of
heaven, …”
NASV: “… and fire came down from heaven …”
COMMENT: It was GOD that judged (important point).
Rev. 21:24 KJ: “And the nations of them WHICH ARE SAVED
shall walk in the light of it: …”
NASV: “And the nations shall walk by its light,
…”
COMMENT: A BIG difference.
Rev 22:14 KJ: “Blessed [are] they that DO HIS
COMMANDMENTS, …”
NASV: “Blessed are those who wash their robes,
…”
COMMENT: What? ‘Wash their robes’? Are those two
verses the same? Brothers and sisters:
If you want TO BE BLESSED, then DO HIS
(Jesus’) COMMANDMENTS!
Amen?
AMEN!
